Fish from the Conservationist Perspective (3-D Geographic)
In InterWET, the fish from the conservationist perspective gives a three
dimensional view or geographic view of fish using maps and monitoring data.
NOTE: The interactive map features are currently under revision.
Click the button below to load an interactive map for brown trout in streams in the Spring Creek Watershed. Be sure to wait until all the maps have been loaded. After you click the button, a small window will appear and then a second larger window. Be sure to wait until all the maps have been loaded into this second window. If you get an error message when you try to load the map or if the maps are not in color, close both map windows and try again.
If you forget how to use a button, click the ? button or check out the description of the GIS on the runoff from the conservationist perspective web page.
When active, the interactive map contains map layers showing Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission regulations and designations for streams in the Spring Creek Watershed. The advisories layer relates to fish consumption restrictions based on pollution to several streams in the watershed. During the 1970's, the pesticides kepone and mirex accidentally made there way into Spring Creek from leaking holding ponds. The cleanup of this pollution has come under regulation through the US-EPA's Superfund Program. More information can be found at this EPA web page. The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission web site contains information about the other advisory for sections of Logan Branch.
The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission web site and the Pennsylvania Fly Fishing web site
both contain information about regulations and designations for different streams in the watershed.
